The 3 Stages of Digital Agility Adoption

Stage 1

OUTDATED: Processes are predominantly paper-based.

Processes across your institution may not have changed in quite some time. You’re operating under a “business as usual” mindset and haven’t taken time to plan for the future. Requests often go unnoticed, and information is captured but is never used to support admissions goals or improve student life. In this stage of digital transformation, it's easy for staff to be overwhelmed by changes. It’s time to start planning for change by auditing the usability and agility of your tools and resources.

Stage 2

STRATEGIC: A digital agility plan has been created.

You’ve recognized that digitized processes are key to a strong admissions strategy and clear communication between departments. You’ve identified gaps in efficiency and have planned a few initial workflows to fully digitize. A plan for training faculty and staff on new processes has been developed. Many higher education institutions talk about change but encounter roadblocks that stall adoption, such as cost or legacy systems.

Stage 3

ADAPTIVE: Data is updated and maintained within a single source of truth.

Automated workflows have been created for repetitive processes, such as course registration and financial aid approvals. For higher education institutions, this might mean that an automated system has been implemented to update student information.
